Arrange a surprise Friday afternoon off by calling your spouse’s boss. Show up at their place of employment with a comfortable change of clothes, shoes, and outwear depending on the time of year. Don’t forget romantic necessities such as snacks, candles, or massage oils. Then blindfold your spouse and take them to a favorite place to eat, to a beach, to a park, or a concert. Go back to the house if it’s empty for the night, to a cabin with a roaring fire, or a hotel room.
Hint: If it’s an overnight stay, don’t forget clean underwear and socks, a toothbrush, razor, makeup, medications, and other toiletries your spouse will find necessary.
Others trusted God and were tortured, preferring to die rather than turn from
God and be free. They placed their hope in the resurrection to a better life.
When you face hardship because of Jesus, follow the example of the early persecuted
saints: focus on the life after this one rather than on your present hardships.
