Care Fronting

Valentine’s day is just around the corner, bringing with it a true test for boyfriends and husbands. This year for Valentine’s do something a little different for that special lady in your life. It’s easier than you think.

Start by understanding that what women want for Valentine’s Day is time and thoughtfulness. You don’t have to spend your whole paycheck in order to make her happy . Go for meaningful gifts and remember the point is to be thoughtful. Show her that you’ve been thinking about her and she’ll be thrilled. Trust me. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Surprise dinner-in. Everyone does the dinner-out thing. Why not have a surprise dinner-in? Cook her favorite food, get a nice bottle of wine, candles, the whole deal. Really put time and effort in the details, because trust me women notice that stuff.

Day at the spa for two. You want her to feel like a queen, so why not pamper her with a spa package, but make it for two. This way she gets pampered and gets to spend time with you. You don’t even need to book a whole package. If money or time is an issue you go for a pedicure.

Comfy, yet sexy pajamas. Instead of lingerie, why not get her some comfy pajamas? Women like to be comfortable when they lounge around the house, and not everyone wants to chill wearing lingerie. Getting her some comfy, but still sexy pajamas tells her that you want her to be comfy around you.

Flower arrangement with a special touch. If your girl is into flowers (and what girl isn’t) then take the time to pick some out for yourself. Instead of picking up a bouquet of flowers, make your own flower arrangement and put notes on each flower telling her why it reminded you of her.

Weekend getaway. If you’re married, you can’t go wrong with a weekend getaway, just the two of you. Fill your weekend with romantic things the two of you can do together but be sure to leave lots of down-time too.

A memento. Get your girl a something to remember you by. It could be jewelry, or a bumper sticker with some phrase or word the two of you share. This gift can really be anything, and it shows how you cherish the little things the two of you share.

Weekly classes. Take your girl out and do something the two of you enjoy together, but give her a weekly commitment (even if just for a month or so). If you work out at the same gym, book time to go to a fitness class together. If you are more into the arts then why not take some dance lessons or improv classes together?

Clean her house. The love of your life is probably a busy lady. After a day at work the last thing she wants to do is housework (even if it’s just the dishes). Surprise her with a sparkling clean house . If her house is already sparkling do a chore that she dislikes and leave her a note telling her that you’ve taken care of it.

Make sure she is not alone. If for whatever reason (and it better be a good one) you can’t be there on V-day, make sure she is not alone. Make arrangements for her and some friends to go out for dinner, your treat. This will not only show her that you care, but it will also make her friends love you. (Which never hurts.)
