Reflection #2 on 'The Space in Between
Us' by Building 429
All I really want to do is to fall into
The emptiness that is
The space in-between us
Erase it and bring us together again
Have
you ever felt separated from the Lord? Well, if you have never
made Jesus the Lord of your life, you are separated from Him.
You can never draw near to God until you accept the sacrifice
of Christ and bow before His cross.

But for those of us who have humbled ourselves and called
upon the Lord of all lords for mercy and forgiveness, we can
never be without Him, even though it may feel like it.
When we sin, when we do or say things that are contrary to
His ways or when we forsake our time of fellowship with Him
in prayer and in His Word, we feel a distance, a sense of
separation.
And while Jesus never leaves us or forsakes us, we can pull
away from Him. We may not leave His sight but we can neglect
His love for us.
The Bible admonishes us to do something about this sense
of distance between us.
"Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Return
to Me,' declares the LORD of hosts, 'that I may return to
you,' says the Lord of hosts" (Zechariah 1:3 NASB).
And again God says: "'From the days of your fathers you have
turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them. Return
to Me, and I will return to you,' says the LORD of hosts.
'But you say, "How shall we return?'"" (Malachi 3:7 NASB)
In the Book of James we read:
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your
hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded"
(James 4:8 NASB).
The ball is in our court. When we feel distant or separated
from the Lord, it is not His fault. He has not moved from
His place of loving commitment to us.
We are the ones who have turned aside. We are the ones who
have left the place of communion.
Take the words of the song "The Space Between Us," to heart.
Act on the words of the Bible, draw close to the Lord through
prayer, worship and the study of His Word.
As you turn your attention and affection to Him, He will make
Himself known to you. And you will know there really is no
space between the two of you.
