Reflection
#1 on 'Take Heart, My Friend' by Fernando Ortega
When we wander, He is our shepherd
He who watches over us never sleeps
Did
you ever wonder if God was sleeping on the job? I mean, sometimes
we think He is not really paying attention to us. Something
happens, we are faced with one of the tragedies or perplexing
circumstances of this life, and though we know He never leaves
us, we wonder if He is awake. Well, the Word of God tells us
that God is not only ever present, but attentive to us as well:
"He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber" (Psalm 121:3 NASB).
God is there with you. He is working to comfort and keep you.
He understands the dangers to your soul. He knows despair, and
He understands the pain of loneliness.
"He was despised and forsaken of men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised,
and we did not esteem Him" (Isaiah 53:3 NASB).
Jesus knows the dark hours of the night, and He is watchful
over you. He is there, and His care is all around you.
My prayer for you this day is found in the lyrics of the song
"Take Heart, My Friend." I pray that you know of His care for
you. Those of us involved in this reflection pray for you. We
lift you before the Master's face and trust Him to keep you,
strengthen you, and comfort you.
If you have never made Jesus the Lord of your life, or if you
want to make a fresh commitment to Him, click Who
is Jesus. He will meet you right where you are now. He will
come along side you and never leave you. He will walk you out
and through whatever you face. Be encouraged. You are not forgotten;
He is not asleep on the job. Take heart, my friend.
