Reflection
#1 on on 'Alive in Love' by The Swift
I never knew how great Your love could be.
I can't believe the price You paid for me;
You carried all my sin upon Your shoulders!
Do
you know that Jesus carried your sins on His shoulders? In the
song "Alive in Love," the group called The Swift sings that
the sacrifice of Christ was personal. He carried my sins. He
gave His life for mine. Isaiah wrote the same thing:
"But the LORD was pleased
To crush Him, putting Him to grief;
If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,
He will see His offspring,
He will prolong His days,
And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
"As a result of the anguish of His soul,
He will see it and be satisfied;
By His knowledge the Righteous One,
My Servant, will justify the many,
As He will bear their iniquities.
"Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,
And He will divide the booty with the strong;
Because He poured out Himself to death,
And was numbered with the transgressors;
Yet He Himself bore the sins of many,
And interceded for the transgressors" (Isaiah 53:10-12 NASB).
This passage is rich with meaning. Jesus was the offering for
our guilt [sin]. He justified us with His sacrifice. He poured
Himself out even to death and bore our sins. He died so that
we could live. He went to the cross for us. And now we live
in the light of that cross every day.
As you go through the busy day you may have before you, or as
you contemplate the busy day you have just completed, take a
minute and thank Him for it. You owe Him this day and every
day, because of the grace He has shown you. You have strength
for today and hope for tomorrow, because of what He did at the
cross. Live in that love.
If you have never accepted the sacrifice Jesus made for you,
click Who is Jesus.
