Reflection
#1 on 'Hold Me Jesus' by Rich Mullins
Well sometimes my life just don't
make sense at all
When the mountains look so big
And my faith just seems so small
Are you facing a mountain today? Then move it. Well, that
is what Jesus said to do.
I have faced mountains of debt, mountains of sickness, mountains
of fear, doubt and sorrow. They have always been too much
for me. But they have never been too much for Jesus. He knows
exactly how to move mountains. And I will admit that sometimes
I move out in faith with my eyes closed and my knees knocking.
"'Have faith in God,' Jesus answered. 'I tell you the
truth, if anyone says to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself
into the sea," and does not doubt in his heart but believes
that what he says will happen, it will be done for him'"
(Mark 11:22 23, NIV).
In the song "Hold Me Jesus," Rich Mullins wrote
that his life did not make sense because his faith was so
much smaller than the mountains he faced. That is true of
all of us. But Jesus told us that we didn't need big faith,
we just needed to use our faith.
I know the mountains seem so big, and we feel so small. Those
are the times when we need to draw even closer to the Lord
and sing with Rich, "Hold me, Jesus."
