Reflection
#2 on 'Nothing without You' by Bebo Norman
Take my time here on this earth
And let it glorify all that You are worth
I am really good at wasting time. I can blow a whole day
mindlessly running the channels on the TV or wandering the
mall. But I have come to understand that I get the most out
of my days when I spend them paying attention to God.
How are you spending your time? Time is a gift from God;
each day He gives us a little more. And each day we choose
how to spend that time. In the song "Nothing Without
You," Bebo Norman sings that he wants to give his time
to God. He asks God to take it and use it to glorify Himself.
Sounds wonderful, but is it practical?
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6,
NIV).
It really isn't that hard to become God-minded. Tie a red
thread to the steering wheel of the car to remind you of the
blood of Jesus. When you see it, say a prayer of thanks and
acknowledge you need His help today. Write a favorite verse
on a 3 x 5 card and put it in your wallet with your cash.
Every time you reach for a dollar, read the verse. My refrigerator
is covered with magnets holding Bible verses to the door.
This may sound silly, but have you ever gone through your
whole day and realized you haven't given God a single minute?
Don't let that happen. Join Bebo Norman in his commitment.
Because remember, without God we are nothing.
