Troubleshooting
Guide
I am unable to pick up greetings
I am unable to view animation
The animation is slow or
choppy
I am unable to hear sound/music
I am unable to pick up greetings
If you cannot pick up or view a greeting you've been sent, please
look over the list below to see if your situation is described.
 |
You
use a mail service that only use text, such as Erols,
Juno, Airmail, or Dataflow. Mail servers that use only
text are incompatible with our greetings. |
 |
You
are using WebTV. Some WebTV users are unable to view all
of our greetings. If you have a newer version that came
with a Flash plug-in, you will be able to view all of
our greetings. If you have an older version of WebTV,
however, you will only be able to view our electronic
postcards. |
 |
You
are using a private-institution email account, like those
at businesses and colleges. These networks use "attachment
blocks" to ensure that no viruses get downloaded into
their computer systems. Attachment blocks can also keep
our greetings from being sent. |
 |
The
security level of your email program is set too high.
To learn about the security settings in your particular
email program, please contact your email provider. |
 |
 |
I am unable to view animation
Some of our interactive greetings use an enhanced animation
called Flash. To view these, you will need to have a Flash plug-in.
You can download the Flash plug-in for FREE

the Macromedia page, click "Install Now" |
| 5. |
After installation is complete, please go to the link
provided in your original email. The greeting will automatically
play from this point. |
 |
 |
The animation is slow or choppy
Slow modem speeds or slow computer processors can cause
delays or slow animation on our greetings. We recommend using
a modem speed of at least 56k to connect to the web, and a computer
processor speed of at least 133 MHz. We also recommend closing
all other applications on your computer (except your web browser)
while you are viewing our greetings. If you still experience
difficulty, you may want to install more memory on your computer.
I am unable to hear sound/music
First, please check your individual computer controls. Please
remember that not all of our greetings have sound. If you are
using WINDOWS, there should be a "horn" icon on the bottom right
hand corner of your computer screen. Double click on the icon
and make sure the volume control is turned up loud enough, and
that the mute square is not checked. We also advise checking
your Multimedia settings.
| 1. |
Click
the START button in the lower left corner of your screen.
Select SETTINGS from the menu; then select CONTROL PANEL |
| 2. |
Choose
Multimedia. |
| 3. |
Choose
the MIDI tab |
| 4. |
Make
sure that under single instrument that you have a device
selected that ends in "synth". |
| 5. |
Click
Apply. |
 |
 |
If you are using a MAC, check to be sure that sound is enabled
on your computer.
| 1. |
On the Edit menu, choose Options, and then click the Web
Content tab. Make sure that the Play Sounds check box
is selected. |
| 2. |
Check
to make sure that your computer's volume is turned up. |
| 3. |
Check
to make sure that you have the Quicktime Musical Instruments
extension installed on your computer. It should be in
the Extensions folder in your System folder. If you do
not have this extension installed, visit http://quicktime.apple.com
for more information and to download a copy. |
