The Results of the Seven Steps
According to Peter, if we increasingly follow
these seven steps, we will have much to look forward to (2 Pet. 1:8-11).
- We will not be unproductive in our knowledge of and relationship
to Christ (v.8).
- We will not be shortsighted and blind, to the point of losing
sight of how much God has done for us (v.9).
By our diligence and action, we will prove our faith and carry
it to maturity (v.10).
- We will not stumble and fall along the way, as far as our
spiritual progress and journey are concerned (v.10).
- We can look forward to a great and triumphant entrance into
the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (v.11).
As far as Peter was concerned, these results were worth living and
dying for. They were the things he wanted to keep before those who
had started the Christian life but had become distracted along the
way.
