Ok ?

If I believe, recieve, and become a christian, does it matter what church I go to? I know the Mormons believe a lot of extra stuff, but does this affect the person's salvation? Isn't he/she is still a Christian?
???

Well, first, I'm not sure we should refer to a Mormon as a Christian. I'm not sure a Mormon would want to be called a Christian either. There are significant differences between the Book of Mormon and the [King James] Bible.

I think the issue is with the first element in your biblical equation... what the person believes.

A few differences:

> Mormons believe three separate God's rule our planet.
> Every Mormon man who follows the "right" path can expect to become a God, and rule their own planet.
> Mormons believe all Gods were men before they became Gods.
> Mormons believe Jesus' death only cancels Adam's sin.
> The Mormon is on his own, working for his salvation.

You can see a Mormon's basic beliefs differ drastically from what Christians believe.

It is not enough just to believe. A person can sincerely believe something and still be sincerely wrong.

A [biblically-defined] Christian must believe these basics:

> In one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
> That Jesus was fully man and fully God, and that through His sinless life, death and resurrection, He atoned for our sins.
> He died as our substitute, living the life we couldn't live.
> We believe there is only one way to eternal life with God and that is through the belief of and forgiveness from Jesus Christ, the Son.

Interesting

The Mormon Religion, is an attempt at reformulating Christianity. If a Christian doesn't know what he/she actually believes, and also what a Christian actually is, they can't even witness to themselves.

As Christians if we aren't aware of the imposter versions of christianity, we may accept their nice sounding, sort of makes sense doctrine, because we don't know our own faith well enough to know what they are saying goes against the Bible, or isn't even in the Bible. That they have intertwined the Bible with their own books. Unfortunately this goes not only with other religions, but some pastors have created their own form of christianity.

On the CBS Show Survior, the last two surviors where recognized for their faith and the fact they were christians? Strange considering one was a Mormon.

Also I heard on a Christian radio program the other day, the 50% of the new converts to Mormonism come from the ranks of Christians.

What do the rest of you know or think about Mormons being called Christians?

I think in the context of the media lately, anyone who believes in God, in their eyes is a Christian. Kind of a very broad and liberal definition. A lot of people are searching for truth and comfort in God right now (in light of 9-11) and are very open to any form of religion. If it falls under the umbrella of religion, then the media seems to portray people as Christians - I even heard a member of Islam referred to as being of the Christian faith on the news the other day.

I'm in agreement with Webacus on this one.
