| Quote: | | we've been learning in Bible study lately, about what takes place after becoming saved---justification, sanctification, and 2 other things that I can't remember right now |
RO 29-30
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Some focus just on these three:
Justification -- This doctrine constitutes the legal declaration of the believer's absolute righteousness before God on the basis of his personal faith in Jesus Christ, proving that our perfect standing before God is not dependent upon Church teaching, sacraments, personal character, or good works, but solely upon our faith in Christ.
Sanctification -- Sanctification follows justification. Sanctification is the process by which the Holy Spirit makes us more like Christ in all that we do, think, and desire. True sanctification is impossible apart from the atoning work of Christ on the cross because only after our sins are forgiven can we begin to lead a holy life.
Glorification -- Glorification is the third step Glorification has not yet occurred; it occurs at Christ's return. It is at the time of glorification that the sanctification process is fully complete -- our bodies will be changed, the old sin nature will be eliminated, and we will see the risen Christ in all his glory |
