As you see I am new and catching up on all this stuff...
I also am a mother of 4 children who attend/attended public school.
The only way I saw how to change the policy was to have a voice that counts. When my children were very young, I joined the PTO/PTA, that helps with planning activities for parties. Your oppinion matters. What would you think if I told you, as a room mom, my classroom was aloud to dress up but it had to be a job that you wanted to be when you grew up (No scary costumes) than for the party we invited parents to come and talk about their jobs and join us for cupcakes & juice. Yes they participated with the rest of the school but in a different way. Being close to the teacher and making your point clear has been very helpful.
I did this all through school, my daughter and son has since graduated but I have one in 12th grade and one in 9th so I will continue to help.
ALSO the big way after alot of prayer is running for your local School Board Of Directors. I prayed for 2 years if this was God's will and I got the answer to helping bring GOD back into the public school. So I am a school board member now making a way to bring Christ back to our children who don't get the chance to see Him at home or church.
We pray before our meetings (change is good), I am currently working on getting the moment of silence back into ALL public schools in our district.
This Thursday we will see if it passes but I felt God telling me to persue it further.
Oh sorry to go back but neighborhood parties on Halloween is a great idea, alot of parents will back you in that. We also do it at Youth Group, come dressed as a someone in the BIble... |
