So what do you do when you are angry with your spouse?

I usually try to calm down a bit before I lash into my husband. My husband has a way of pushing my buttons to the extreme. I am so angry with him right now that I could just spit nails. I had to get him out of my sight before I said or did something I would later regret. But sometimes it takes me awhile (a couple of days) to calm down enough so I can talk to him. Yes, I have anger issues...so I'm asking for your advice. What can I do when my blood starts to boil? I know it's not good to stay angry for so long, but I also know from experience if I try to talk about it right away, it just gets worse. So what do you do when you're angry?

A couple of verses I keep close to me -

1 Corinthians 13:4-6
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

Ephesians 4:26
"In your anger do not sin" : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.

Ephesians 4:31-32
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and ander, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

James 1:19-20
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

You admit you have anger issues. How do you get a grip on them?
Pray and ask God to release you from this and maybe get some help?
If you have kids or grandkids, it's really time to get control of this for them.

I had really bad throw things kind of anger years ago. It really meant asking God to help me each moment my anger boiled over and to get some counseling. I take huge deep breaths now and start praying for control. I also say to God, "I need to give this to you because I can no longer hang on to it. Please take this from me."
