Friends in Christ:
We returned late last night from our "A New Beginning" retreat in San Antonio. I prayed before we went that God would open our hearts and also that He would keep my expectations in check. I was afraid to ask for a miracle, instead knowing that my marriage could only get better, and that any improvement was cause for joy. I am happy to report that the God of miracles still performs them today. The retreat was mind blowing and wall shattering - for both of us. My wife declared her love for me in front of the group and asked if she could come home! Praise the God of healing. Last night we slept in each other's arms.
We still have much work to do and much healing needs to take place. But now we have tools and a plan to move ahead as a team - a team of 3. We talked on the way home about how we need to invite Christ to be the head of our household and allow Him to work in our hearts. I thank you for all of your prayers for us. My wife said she could feel the presence of God at the retreat, and I said she had no idea how many of the faithful were praying for us over the weekend. To God be the glory for this turn of events.
If you are hurting and scared, please surrender your marriage to God and let him do the healing. Love your spouse no matter what he/she has done in the past, and ask God to show you the steps you must take. If you need a "hail-mary" pass for your marriage - I recommend the Family Dynamics "A New Beginning" weekend retreat for you and your spouse. Do whatever it takes to get him or her there. My wife did not want to go at all. She said she feared having her indiscretion exposed and being made to feel shame and guilt. That is NOT what happens there. It is also beneficial to meet and participate with other couples who are hurting and whose marriages are hanging by a thread. To witness their healing and breakthroughs before your eyes, to see God renewing love and committment in marriages are blessings beyond compare. Please send me a PM if you want more info. I am glad to share all I can about this wonderful ministry.
Thank all of you for your support, words, and most of all - your prayers for us. Please say a prayer of praise and thanksgiving for His answer to your prayers. I have been in a constant state of praise since Saturday.

PRAISE GOD!
That's a great way to start a Monday - to see that you and your wife are trusting in the Lord to guide and heal your marriage. : |

Wow!!
I sat here in wonder and praise and in tears as I read your post. I know it is cliche (but I never get tired of saying it), God really is an awesome and wonderful God. I am so grateful you hung on for all your marriage was worth to trust Him and let Him do the work in you. I pray that He will continue to change your hearts and keep you both on the road to a wonderful marriage that He has had planned for you all along. |
