| How do you find time in your busy schedules to be still and listen to God as well as talk with him on a daily basis? |

Excellent question. It's a daily challenge for me.
I think creativity is key -- location, time, method and content -- to stay fresh and consistent.
A quiet time can mean many things from listening to a worship CD in rush hour traffic, praying in the morning while exercising, reading a good Christian book or studying the bible.
It’s rare that I can lock myself in a dark, quiet place and devote myself to a conversation with God. That is needed sometimes. Often you need to just be quiet and listen.

I cannot express how much I need and enjoy my quiet time with God. It is exceptionally hard for me as I have 3 little ones, a husband and a house to take care of, not to mention being pregnant and wanting to jump intp bed the moment the kids are in bed! What I do though, is when Jason goes to work at night (which isn't every night) I clean up the house with worship music on. This helps me to unwind and start geting ready for God. Then I get on my living room floor and pray, worship, listen, and just soak up His presence. We have annointing oil and sometimes I annoint the house. This leaves such a nice, Jesus smell around. On the nights Jason isn't working, I admit to sometimes going to bed early and letting him clean up, but otherwise we do a devotional together and/or go through the Word and/or go through this binder I have with a ton of teaching articles, and we pray. It is still time with God, we spend it together. :inlove: |

I'm blessed to be able to work from home. You would think there would be a lot of time to spend with God, but my days are full and busy.
When the phones are quiet and no one is home (hubby and kids) the worship music is on. Also, lunchtime is a good time for reading the bible. I let the anwering machine grab the phones for awhile. |

LOL Webacus! Yeah, a "Jesus" smell! It's frankicense and myrrh annointing oil and I use it for prayer and worship. It just makes me feel closer to Him. I associate Him with that aroma. It feels to me like He is physically in the room with me when I can "smell" Him...understand? Kind of like if you can still smell your wife's perfume after she leaves the room, it still seems like she is there. To me, the oil is Jesus' smell! Try it, it's great! :inlove:
I'll try your vaccuuming song now! he-he :p |

That's really true about quiet time can mean different things. I often beat myself up alot for not going to a quiet place alone to pray, but I do pray to God throughout the day (in the shower, etc.) I try to spend time with him right when I get home from work before doing anything else. But I've found that I do most of my reading during the day (on the subway, my lunch break, etc.)
It's such a blessing when you can start you day off by first spending quiet time w/ the Lord. It's so hard though since I'm not a morning person! :sleepy: |
