What does it mean when some tells you they are a Christian?
If someone tells you they are a Christian, but can't explain why or what makes them a Christian . . . are they a Christian? |

Hey Dave! Good to see you.
Good Question. I think there are two possibilities:
It's possible that person is a [biblically-defined] Christian, but has trouble articulating his beliefs. With the right dialog, you can help that individual understand where he's "at" spiritually.
Or, it's possible that person is really not a Christian.
I've experienced many people who think they're a Christian-- but they're not. Again, we're using the bible's definition of Christianity.
Many people think if they go to church and are relatively a "good" person, they're a Christian. Not so. |

| I led a pretty wild late teen/early twenties life and I still said I was a Christian during those times. I could not tell you what that meant other than I knew God existed and Christ was his son and I was raised to be a Christian. Now, I have truly learned the meaning of knowing God and having Christ in my life and really being a Christian. I know it in every thing that I feel, but it is hard for me to explain it. All of us do not have the words to give you an educated response to that question. I am not a dumbie and I can talk to you quite well about most other topics, but this is such a person issue with me because of everything I have been through and people are so critical of you being a Christian. I will stand up for my belief though and I will not hide it like I used to. I just can't always put into words an argument to someone who is a non-believer. I am learning and trying though. |
