Justice of the Peace? Yea or Nae? Is it okay? Is it not okay? What does God say about it?

Nooooooooooo I'm not going to the Justice of the Peace to be married! This question was on my mind and after hearing everyone's different opinions about it I wanted to ask GT to see what they thought!

I personally would like a nice wedding in a church with all of my loved ones. But that's just me:-)

So let's have it? What's your take on it? Justice of the peace for marriage or not?

I really didn't find any biblical reference on this, although I'm sure our other posters may find something I did not.

Personally, I have been in church weddings and a wedding at the JP. Sometimes there is not much difference, especially when it comes to the vows. Things can be changed in the church in a manner than honors God with praise and worship. This can be done in writing personal vows and in the music that is chosen. I was at a wedding in January where after the couple exchanged their vows, two worship songs were sung with all of the guests. The words to the songs were provided with the program. What a way to teach your guests about what you believe. It was amazing!

Most couples admit to wanting God's blessing on their marriage. Within the church there is a sense of God's presence, which brings more hope and permanence to the ceremony. There is a sense of holiness and sacredness when the ceremony is performed by a minister, pastor or priest. When I was at a JP wedding, I did not feel the presence of God there.

In my mind, there are two different implications:

Married in a Church
    Marriage Preparation
    Accountability
    Community
God is involved-- seeking God's involvement & blessing
    Commitment/ Covenant
    Public Statement
JOP
    Last Minute
    Legal Arrangement
Not all couples/ marriages are the same-- obviously just my opinions here.
