Hi again, all. I know this is kind of early for me to jump in here with a prayer request, but I'm at my wits' end. My husband and I just have WAY too much going on right now, and I'm just feeling so frustrated and overwhelmed.

Our baby is due in December, and we are in the process of moving to a new home--both stressful events, as happy and welcome as they are! We've been wanting to change our church membership to a congregation nearer our new home, but I didn't realize until just today that we'll have to take "newcomer classes" in order to do that. (I thought we'd be "exempt" because we've been members of another church of the same denomination for all our lives--we just want to change addresses, as it were!) My husband travels a lot and is frequently out of town and this is going to be something else to try to cram into his waaay too busy schedule. (The classes are at a different time than the services & other Bible studies which we have no trouble getting to.) *sigh* I'm already asking him to give up so much of his time to attend childbirth classes with me--and I hate to cancel those, because this is my first pregnancy, and I'm scared--I don't have a mother to guide me through it, as my mother is deceased, nor do I have a sister or anything like that.

Sorry, I'm droning! To make matters worse, I work as a medical transcriptionist, and suddenly, for no apparent reason, all of the six doctors I transcribe for suddenly decided to change the format which they've been using for the past seven years--so now my work is going incredibly slow and I'm falling behind. Then, I sing with a symphony chorus, and (like a crazy woman!) I didn't take a leave of absence for this season, so now I've got rehearsals and performances to go to in the evenings. I'm feeling really stupid for thinking I could continue to do that even though I'm pregnant and have all this other stuff going on! But now I've committed. Sad

I'm so overwhelmed I'm just tempted to chuck it all! Just leave our church membership where it is for now.....but I really wanted to have all that sorted out *before* the baby arrives, because everyone keeps telling me things are just going to get *more* hectic then! And I just want to bail out on the symphony this season--but then I'll feel irresponsible.

It just feels like there is so much to do and so little time--we are very happy about this baby--I had just hoped things would be much more settled down than this by the time we had our first baby....I mean, you'd think we would be more prepared than this--after all, we're in our 30's and have been married ten years! Please pray for me some peace of mind and serenity, and the strength and wisdom to handle all this appropriately!

Thank you so much!

Wow!
I empathize! I don't have a baby on the way, but had my first grandchild in February and I work in the mortgage business which is just plain out crazy right now.

I will keep you in my prayers and I ask for you to keep me in yours. The only thing that is keeping me even the slightest bit sane is to exercise/walking mostly and I pray during that time and try to walk outdoors. It just helps me feel closer to God. Take a deep breath and tell God each day - "Lord, I need to give this day to you to handle". He comes through in amazing ways.

Bless you, sweetie, it's tough on you I know. And tougher because everything you're burdened with is a good thing, so you don't know what to get rid of.

Have you thought about (a) going ahead and starting to attend at the church of your choice, and (b) simply not picking up the new-member obligations until sometime after the baby is born?

Did Jesus or His apostles initiate the holy rite of "new members classes"?

Whom would you offend if you retrenched into a sort of "basic" mode for the next few months... for the next year even?

Thank you, new friends, for your prayers and encouragement. I am seeking ways to prioritize and cut back where I can, and praying that the Lord will guide me in that regard. I have committed myself to the current symphony performance this weekend, but after that, I'm going to look into taking a leave of absence for the rest of the concert season.

I'm also going to try to find some time with Cliff (my husband) for us to sit down and decide together whether it would be best for us to go through the "formalities" of changing our church membership now or after the baby comes. (Still chuckling at the "holy rite of of new members classes." ) It's probably not necessary to do that right away. . . I guess I just feel like there are so many loose ends that I want to tie up! But I will continue to pray for some serenity in all this, and for the wisdom and guidance to see what must be done and what can wait.

Thanks for remembering me in your prayers; I will remember you in mine as well.

What are the "formalities" of changing membership, can't you just go to another church for months without be a member? Do you have to cancel your membership at the old Gym, oops I mean church?

As I mentioned in my first post, the "formalities" are that I would need to take new member classes. I called it a formality because I'm already a member of the same denomination, just at a different church. I could attend services without being a member, but I just kind of thought it would be nice to get it taken care of. Uhm.....I'm a member of a denominational christian church, rather than a nondenominational one--I hope that is acceptable to everyone here....I'm not entirely certain how to interpret the gym referrence. *looking for the smilie-face that has question-marks popping out of its head* ???

It was an attempt at humor Very Happy

It seems that changing churches is like changing gyms. We have to get off the mailing list of one, and get on the mailing list of another. What ever happen to the universal life membership we got when we became Christians?

End Time Emoticons - Maybe the growthtrac people can add some of these?
