Hello:

I have just received my Sanctuary Bible, a devotional bible for women today.

Many thanks.

Being this is the 2nd time around for me and my spouse, I want to make sure I am fully guarded. I want to make sure I am the woman I am supposed to be according to GOD. Also, I want to be a great Nurse to my patients.

Where do I start reading from in the bible?

I usually just skip around and then find myself confused.

I'd like to hear what your suggestions are

Thank you

Usually in the back of many devotional bibles, there is a reading plan that gives you specific verses to read each day without being overwhelmed.
I would check there.

I've gotten the most out of my Bible, but deciding on what I wanted to learn about...

Take for example "what is Baptism For".

Then I'll take a "concordance". You can look up the word Baptism, and it gives you EVERY scripture containing that word in it... Then you can look up words like it "Baptize" "Baptized"... etc.

You'll need to read pretty much the whole Chapter, to get the jest of what it's saying. It's also nice to know "who was talking and to whom he was talking"... this is usually at the front of each book.

Get a notebook and write notes on the scriptures you read. If there is something you do not understand... Put that scripture in your Internet search engine. There are tons of websites, "explaining" scripture, background, and meanings...

Try that. Good Luck, the Bible is FASCINATING!!!!!!!!!!!

There are lots of different ways to approach this, so this is just a suggestion. I recommend starting with the epistles in the new testament, which are the following books: Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, Jude. These books help give you a good grounding in what our relationship with God and others is supposed to be like.

Then read the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and the book of Acts.

Along the way, you can read from Psalms to help you pray, and Proverbs for wisdom.

Finally, you can start reading the old testament.

Also, your church might have some plan for reading the Bible to complement what the pastor is preaching on.

Several yrs ago I joined B.S F. and I found it to be very interesting. It was amazing to study just a verse. Our church has some very good studies also. I am waiting for a couples group to start as my husband has never really been in the word-so please pray for us that will help us in our growth. he feels now that if he would have been in the word, applying it to his life, the affair would never have happened. Good luck to your reading. Jo-jo

Thank you.

You have been so wonderful to me. I am keeping your family in my prayers.

At this time, I will not have time to go to church. How awful that must sound coming out of my mouth. That is why I want to be able to learn to read the bible. I know going to bible study is wonderful and I will learn a lot.

This school year is going to be real touch. After not being in school for many years and taking Nursing courses. I am a little scared. But I pray for wisdom, strength, the ability to trust GOD. This course is only 10 months. Every where else, I am hearing, is 12 month course. There is a test EVERY day and homework of 4-5 hours a night. So basically I will be sitting in my study room until I go to bed.

I just signed up to volunteer at the Methodist Nursing home one day a week. I'd like to do more days, but can not afford the fuel for the car. This is going to give me a better sense of the new career, and also lift up someone's spirits.

LORD: I would like to lift up all the people here that need your help. Help them LORD for strength to get through these obstacles. Help them LORD to work with their spouses instead of them breaking apart. Help them to realize what the true meaning of marriage and love is all about. Give them the courage to speak out and verbalize how scared they are, instead of fleeing the home. We thank you LORD for all that you do for us and all that we do have. AMEN!

Have a great evening.

Hello-jo Bets No it does not sound awful. God knows where your heart is. There are so many good radio stations to listen when you are driving. My daughter 's frend is going to nursing school and has 3 young sons, not alot of help from her husband-sohang in there. It is such a great profession. God bless your family. I also pray for the other families. That God continue to bless them in all their choices Jo-jo

Jo, I know how that kind of school can be. I had the same thing when I went to paramedic school. You need to remember to get plenty of sleep and eat a well balanced diet. It is very hard to take the test if you were up all night and dont get the proper nutrition. A study group is also very helpful. Even if you only can meet before school and ask each other questions. All of this helped me alot. Good luck and God bless. Very Happy
