My wife and I are recently seperated. We are with the help of Christian counselors working on reconciliation. I know that our marriage has to have a foundation in our faith of Jesus Christ as our Savior, which we both have.
My wife though has told me while we were dating, throughout our marriage and our seperation, that her children come first. I believe that after our faith in Christ that our marriage comes next.
What does it really mean in God's eyes to put your marriage first? |

A solid marriage involves a servant's heart and mentality from both spouses - a focus on the other person and selfless giving from both people. This is the heart of Christ.
Both spouses must fully embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ in order for their marriage to thrive. If you want to know what Christ really taught, then pick up a bible that puts all of Christ's words in red.
When both spouses take themselves or others off the throne in their home and in their marriage and place Jesus Christ there, miracles happen!
(This information above is from a new book I picked up this week called The Marriage Revolution by Debra White Smith)
In Genesis - God created man and woman to be in loving community with Him. It is the oneness he created for us to experience together. The oneness a couple desires to experience with God cannot occur if other things are competing for attention in their hearts.
It only takes one spouse to commit to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Don't lose heart - move forward as Christ would. Begin treating your mate the way you want to be treated. Pour the energy into you marriage you wish your wife would. Your wife seeing Christ in you and the changes in you will be more influential than you know. You reap what you sow.
When you get saved, it's not a question of how much of Jesus you have. It's a question of how much of you Jesus has. |
