Please pray for us (Shane & Emily). I'm 13 weeks pregnant and Shane is pretty much set on divorcing me. His theory is that it it better to divorce than to raise a child in a home with unhappy parents. His family is supporting him on this decision. The enemy has a stronghold on him right now. He doesn't see all the things we can do to have the kind of marriage God intends. He is even considering getting back in the National Guard with his unit that is being deployed to Iraq for 18 months. If he did this, we would be divorced when he left. He is planning on selling our house for payoff (which is way less than it is worth), and has someone who will close in 3 days. Does anyone know of any resources to show him about the effects of a divorce on an unborn child? Please pray that the schemes of the devil will be stopped, that my husband will seek Godly councel before making this decision.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
Emily

Hi Emily

I just prayed for you. Your husband is way off on his "theory".

Are you guys part of a church? A small group?
Could you get him to go to counseling with you?

Here are a few articles that might be helpful

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation and have prayed for you, your child and your marriage.

Seek counsel for yourself through your pastor or a licensed Christian counselor. They will help provide you with the tools emotionally to deal with this and ways to deal with your husband.

I would also seek the advice of an attorney to financially protect yourself and your child. Also, advice could be provided on the sale of your home and whether he can sell it without your consent. You obviously do not want divorce and it doesn't mean you have to sign papers against your will.

You didn't really mention why he is seeking a divorce other than being unhappy??
