Danielle

What it boils down to, is you are suited up for the game, and your BF is sitting in the stands watching, or possibly just warming the bench. He is part of the event, but not in the game.

You quoted Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpen iron, So one man sharpens another"

Men sharpen Men, and guys have a way of getting other guys out of the stands and onto the field and into the game. You want to see your BF's spirit gas tank get filled? You will when he joins a good Christian Men's group and/or goes to a Men's Christian Retreat.

Men become more through relationships with other men. Women are not role models for men. You want to be a strong spiritual leader? Then one needs to hang out with others who possess the skills, qualtities, and interests you are hoping to acquire.

Here is a popular book that a lot of Christian Men (and women) have read:

Wild at Heart: Discovering The Secret of a Man's Soul - by John Eldredge
Simply look at the dreams and desires written in the heart of every boy: To be a hero, to be a warrior, to live a life of adventure and risk. Sadly, most men abandon those dreams and desires—aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a "nice guy." It is no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go are often passive and bored to death. In this provocative book, Eldredge gives women a look inside the true heart of a man and gives men permission to be what God designed them to be—dangerous, passionate, alive, and free.
