There are many places in the Bible that it references healing. Many Christians are divided on whether it still exists. I saw a special on the idiot box the other night about a healing church where the priests heal the congregation. Although, I always assumed that with the healing gift, you have to lay your hands on someone. This Church says differently. Any takers?
Thanks, Grace |

Jesus healed the sick and even raised the dead 'long distance', without touching them.
Because of passages that seem to support, in my view, the concept that the miraculous gifts were passed on by the on-purpose laying-on of the apostles' hands, no, I don't believe the claims of miraculous healing abounding today.
BUT>>> (that's a great, big, neon-purple BUT, with sequins and a lovely vanilla scent!) ), I, puny me, will not limit the Lord in what I believe He will/can do.
If we don't think the Lord will intervene in our lives, if we don't think He ever puts His hand in to 'stir the pool' of His providence in our favor, why do we bother to petition Him in prayer?
Just because I see a million frauds and cheats out there making hot-air claims about the miracles God does through them, just that view of the bad, is not a valid reason to think the miraculous 1st-century-type gifts are gone. A negative proves nothing. I think the Bible proves it... but...
My mind is wide open to whatever possibilities God wants to perform, to help His children and to humble me!
To sum all my blathering up... No, I've never yet seen 'healing' done in the styles and for the stated purposes we see in the New Testament. BUT!... I know my God holds everything from DNA to human conception to the billions of burning stars in the palm of His hand, and I know He can and will help His beloved children in the way He thinks best.
What could be better than God's best ?!? |

I do believe God heals in this time!! It sounded though like the question you were asking was more along the lines of do I think he does instantanious poof stuff
I know of many people who have been getting ready to go in for surgery, and the church was praying... and surgery ended up not needed. My children have been sick with normal things and I have prayed and seen them heal.
I do believe God still works often and miraculously |

I agree that healings can happen today and I do not believe the laying on of hands is essential. Jesus healed many without actually touching them (the woman with the bleeding problem who touched his robe, the officer who washed in the river to be healed from leprosy...).
My daughter, 4, has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and we are believing for a healing. We know somebody who had the JRA also and after receiving prayer, was healed never to suffer again. Why God heals some right away and others later (if at all) I don't know, but that is why He is God and I am me!
It is a shame that there is so many out there "faking" healings. That kind of fraud gives our Christianity a bad name, however, there are some REAL healings taking place out there. There is a website I was recently introduced to; Healing Rooms.com
If you check it out let me know what you think.
Just a last note...Jesus told us that we will do greater things than him, wouldn't that include the ability, through God, to heal?? |

| How would me being able to heal someone the way, say, Peter did, or the way Jesus did for that matter, be a greater thing than what Jesus did? |
