I do love the aspect of smallish groups of Christians, gathered by interest or geography or gender, whatever kind of group it is, getting together & getting into each others' lives.
There is a comfort and strength found in working on our Christian lives together.
In the modern Western world, it's 'way too easy to live apart and unknown to each other, coming together for a miserly hour a week, for a sterile worship event we could have done alone at home. |

The Bible instructs us to confess our sins to each other. When done in the right way to the right spiritual people ( e.g Family, prayer or a close spiritual friend) or others who can counsel you and pray for you, it can be a growing and uplifting experience.
If done to people who are not necessary spiritual and who may not understand the reason behind the confession, it can leave one burdened with guilt that can take years to heal.
It happened to me once when I was involved in a rather very shameful sin and I just confessed to my friends in the church who were not necessary so spiritual or so close to understand the pain and struggle I was undergoing. Then I was very young (17 years old) and my friends were my schoolmates with whom we attended Christian Union
God forgave me long time ago but was I to meet some of these brothers and "friends" it would cross my mind what they would think of me because I think they would definitely remember the incident. |
