I was Baptized again Sunday night. Very Happy How wonderful it is to feel God's good grace! It's my new beginning. I really feel like I can start making a difference and building new GOOD memories now.

I was first baptized when I was in the 5th or 6th grade. That lasted a couple of years before I walked away from the Lord. Since I've been saved again, I felt the need to make that committment again. My husband asked me a question, but I wasn't sure about the answer. Is it common for people to get Baptized again?????

If you read through the bible you will not find infant baptism, it was always adults. Many of us were baptized as infants or young children and I believe that if a great symbol of what our parents promised to God, to to help us become followers of Christ. I think being baptized as an adult is a fullfillment of that wish or promise once we fully enter into a personal relationship with him. As kids, we don't often realize what that decision means.

I made that decision on my own when I was still a child. I truely had a personal relationship with Christ at that young age. I wasn't baptized because it was expected of me, I understood, and I chose to do it. But like many people, I chose the wrong path later on. I think the main reason I didn't stick with it is because I didn't have the encouragement and support I should have had to grow into a strong Christian. But to say I didn't understand it as a child is not true. Sometimes children have the strongest faith because they haven't been tainted with doubt and seen as much of the horrible ways of the world. In the bible (sorry don't remember where it is) it says for us to strive to have child-like faith. I am overwhelmed with joy when I see children baptized. (There were 8 of them that were baptized-on their decision-on Sunday night.) It's our job as adults to help guide them.

I don't think Babycakes was saying children can't realize the significance of what it mean to ask Jesus into their heart. They can. Unfortunately, they may not be taught what this means at an early age and parents may baptize to "cover" the child in the event the child were to die.

Many churches do child dedications instead of infant baptism. In this way, the parents can dedicate their children to the Lord, until such time that the child realizes their own personal need to have Christ in their life. I agree that infant baptism is not found in the Bible.

There's nothing wrong with going through baptism again if you have decided to re-dedicate your life to the Lord. It's more a symbol of telling others "I'm a Christ Follower" and one of the sacraments next to Communion that Christ calls us to do. If you felt a need in your heart to proclaim this again, that's wonderful!! Congratulations!

I was baptized again in Sept. 05 after I was born again. My daughter (who was 7 at the time) was baptized also. She made tha decision on her own. She asked me questions about Jesus and salvation and I answered them. She told me that she wanted to accept Jesus, and she also told me that she wanted to be baptized. My daughter seems to have an understanding of who Jesus is in her own way.

Hey there, I think there's a misunderstanding about what I meant.

Of course, children can make a decision for Christ and many do. They don't have the roadblocks that many adults do. It's important that Baptism is their decision, not the parents.

Infant baptism is not found in the bible.

I understood what you were saying. I was just sharing.

I have heard so many different opinions on baptisim. My parents made the decision for me to get baptized at 9 or 10 years old, and I had no idea of what was going on. No one explained to me the significance.

I wanted my daughter to understand exactly what she was doing, and I am glad she did. I made the same error and had my children baptized as babies. Now I know better. My youngest daughter is 3 years old, and I hope she makes the decision to give her life to the Lord.
